On Monday, we finally returned from our visit to Connecticut. We had a great visit with my family and even got to spend two weekends with Kyle. It was hard to leave. I had forgotten how lush and green everything was there. When the airplane first landed there, Aaron looked out his window and said "Mommy, look. There is a rain forest."
We had to get up very early to make our 7 am flight home. The kids did great, but it was still a really LONG day. We had lots of nice people along the way who helped us out. They must have thought I was crazy lugging the two kids and all our stuff around. I certainly felt crazy. We finally landed in San Diego and made it to our car in one piece. Everyone was so exhausted, we headed right home and would get Nika later. Good thing.
After we were home about 15 minutes, Aaron told me there were ants in the bathroom. Turned out they were not ants, but fleas. Right before we left, Nika had gotten a few from the kennel she stayed in. I treated the house and her and thought they were gone. No such luck. They were all over the downstairs and apparently very happy to have some fresh blood. Luckily they had not moved upstairs, so we hid out up there until the guy came to spray the next day. Thank god for our great friend Ashley, who not only watched Nika and kept her an extra day, but also let the kids stay there all afternoon while I cleaned up the house.
We are all in the clear now with not a flea in sight. Not exactly the welcome home I was hoping for! I will try to do some posts about our trip over the next couple of days.
Here is one of my favorite picutres from the trip. This is how every morning should be. Curled up together in the chair watching cartoons while Mommy sleeps.
