So I finally had one of those moments I always dreamed about with having two kids. We got Lauren a bath seat so she can take a bath with her big brother. I don't know who likes it more!
It seems most days that Aaron still struggles with being a big brother and having to share Mommy. When we are out and about and another little one tries to get near Lauren, he pushes them away and says "No that is my sister." So fiercely protective of his sister. Too bad there weren't more moments like that.
I imagine as time goes on we will go through lots of different phases of liking her/not liking her/ hating her/ loving her. We all struggle to find our place in this new family. Trying to balance every litttle thing we do. Making sure everyone gets some "me" time.
So tonight I am thankful for bath time with both my kids playing together in the tub. What a sight. I wish I could have videotaped it. But I don't think I will ever forget the moment. Just when you think your heart just can't hold another ounce of love, you get a moment like this.
But of course, these moments are brief and end all too quickly. Getting Lauren out of the tub, I hear a voice saying "Mommy I pooped in the tub"....
The life of a Mom.
