The Sharing Bag

It feels like Aaron has been waiting for months for his turn at the sharing bag at school. He asked every day when it would be his turn. Then finally on Friday, his classmate pulled his name out. The sharing bag is a great way for the kids to do show and tell. Every day one child's name is picked out and they get to bring something back to school the next day in the sharing bag. It comes complete with a story explaining all about the bag.

The kids all sat down and Aaron went up and sat with the teacher. Aaron told the class that he brought in his lego fire truck. He told them how he got it from Santa and showed all of the "cool" features on it. Then Aaron got to pick 6 kids to ask/say something about his item. He of coursed picked his best friend, Tristan first, then 2 other boys and then 3 girls, as required by the teacher! He called them all by name, then they said things like "I like your firetruck." Then Aaron said thank you and the teacher asked him how that made him feel. In his school, they talk about happy hearts a lot. It is really all about being nice to each other and making others feel happy. Aaron got 6 happy hearts! Then he got to pick the next name out and the whole class says congratulations to that friend.

It is truly amazing to watch Aaron at school. At home, it is easy to forget the gentle, kind little boy he has turned into. Especially when he is being mean to his sister and teasing her non stop. It reminds me that we must be doing something right. It really gives me a "happy heart" to see him thriving at school.

Opening the sharing bag.

Talking all about his firetruck.

Picking out the next friend's name.
